Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

I can’t believe that the holidays are upon us once again.

You know what that means- cookies, treats, and heavy, filling foods everywhere you turn. All of the parties and get-togethers you go to will center around food.

What is a person who is trying to stay healthy to do?

Instead of giving boxes of chocolates and popcorn tins as gifts, why not a set a trend in your family or friend’s circle and give a gift that’s a little bit healthier?

Here are a few healthy holiday gift ideas to use this holiday season.

Weighted blanket

I must admit that I am curious about these weighted blankets. I’ve heard a lot of great things about them.

Weighted blankets mimic a feeling of being hugged or swaddled. It appears that this exerts a calming effect on you to help you sleep better and reduce anxiety. They typically weigh about 15 pounds.

There is even research out there that demonstrates their effectiveness.

Dinner kit

You’ve probably heard of all different types of home-delivered dinner kits. These kits send you the ingredients to make a set number of recipes on a weekly basis.

My husband and I have been doing a dinner kit for the past six months, and we love it! The recipes are fantastic and easy to follow and not to mention delicious. It takes pressure off of me to plan meals every day.

There are all different types of dinner kits out there whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan, on a budget, whatever.

Popular dinner kits include Blue Apron, HelloFresh, Dinnerly, Marley Spoon, Plated, Purple Carrot, and more.

Instant Pot

The Instant Pot is another hot item.

An Instant Pot is a programmable appliance that combines a pressure cooker and a slow cooker.

It can be used not only as a pressure cooker or slow cooker but also a rice maker, steamer, yogurt-maker, and warmer. It also has a steam/saute option.

This little device will help you put dinner on the table fast!

There’s nothing like fresh herbs to use in cooking or as aromatherapy in the home.

Just because it’s wintertime doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy herbs.

Gift an indoor herb garden so your loved one can enjoy their rosemary, parsley, thyme, mint, and basil year-round.

Journaling is an excellent way for people, especially those who struggle with anxiety, to unload emotional burdens.

Keeping a journal might even help your physical health. This study showed that people with chronic heart failure who participated in gratitude journaling had lower inflammation markers over time.

There is another method of journaling known as a Bullet Journal which involves a combination of note-taking, goal-setting, and long-term planning. It’s apparently a good way to get more organized (another New Year’s resolution?).

Drink more water should be a New Year’s resolution for many people. It’s important to stay hydrated.

A good-quality stainless steel water bottle will cut down on your plastic usage, and you won’t have to worry about chemicals from plastic water bottles leaching into your water.

There’s nothing like a hot cup of tea on a cold winter’s night.

Using a fitness tracker like a FitBit or Apple watch is a good way to reach your health-focused New Year’s resolutions.

Healthy body care products

Believe it or not, many of the hair, skin, and nail care products you use day in and day out contain harmful chemicals.

These chemicals are known to disrupt your hormones and contribute to certain diseases.

The Environmental Working Group recommends avoiding phthalates, parabens, triclosan, and formaldehyde, among others.

Why not try some healthier, plant-based skin and beauty products? Your body will thank you.
