Welcome! I am so happy you are here!
My name is Shannon and I am a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I currently work in Endocrinology (I focus on thyroid disorders and diabetes) but also have experience as a nurse/NP in general medical/surgical, obstetrics, and transplant. Throughout my experience, I have become more and more interested in wellness and prevention.
Many people have come to me saying “I read this on Google…” when the truth is, much of the health-related information found on the internet is inaccurate. My goal for this blog is to provide health-related information that is rooted in evidence-based practice or national guidelines from well-known organizations who advocate for the highest standards of practice (American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, etc) with a focus on wellness and prevention. I expect to update the blog 1-2 times per week.
My disclaimer for this blog is: my posts do not substitute for medical advice. If you think you are having a problem, you should discuss with your own physician/provider who knows your health history.
More about me… in my spare time I enjoy spending time with my soon-to-be husband Matt, playing with my two cats, watching Netflix, reading, or practicing yoga.
I am excited to start this journey with you and I am open to your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you! 🙂
